Welcome to the Senior School
Progression to the Senior School at Pipers is an exciting and stimulating experience. As girls move up from Prep into Lower IV (year 7) they face greater challenges and responsibilities, not only academically but also on a social level.


Curriculum
The Senior School curriculum ensures continuity and progression during the important years leading to GCSE. There are three forms in each year group.


Examination results
In 2007 we were delighted that the percentage of girls achieveing 5 or more GCSEs at grades A* - C was 98.3%. The latest evaluation by the University of Durham also indicates that our GCSE results place Pipers in the top 4% of all schools nationally for "adding value".


Facilities
Our Senior School girls are able to take advantage of all the excellent facilities that the school has to offer. From the modern swimming pool and sports hall complex, to performing arts studios and ICT suites, our girls have all that they need to enable them to excel.


Learning Support
Pipers is committed to helping any of the girls who need learning support to overcome their difficulties and achieve their full potential. In particular our Learning Support Team work closely with subject teachers to identify girls who would benefit from additional help in English and Mathematics.


Gifted and Talented
We are committed to developing the talents of all girls to the full. We encourage a spirit of enquiry and seek to provide challenge so that our academically able girls are inspired to strive for excellence. In sports too, as well as the performing and creative arts, we foster individual gifts and provide opportunity for girls to grow.


Extra-curricular activities
A diverse range of clubs and activities had long been central to life at Pipers. With a large selection of lunch-time and after school clubs and activities to choose from, girls are encouraged to discover their own interests in sports, technology, travel and outdoor pursuits, performing and creative arts, health and science.


Pastoral care
Our comprehensive pastoral care system ensures that individual effort and achievement are monitored and personal and academic targets are identified. Every girl is placed in the care of a Tutor who, in addition to managing the routines of the form group, fosters the development of personal and moral responsibility.
